Korea – Türkiye Bundle Exhibition
The Silk Road, throughout the long course of human history, was not only a route for products and innovations, but also for the circulation of ideas and art, serving as a vast arena where cultures met and expanded.
The exhibition, The Memory of Fabric, The Traces of Hands: The Silk Road Extending Through Bojagi (Bundles), revisits this historical context by focusing on the traditional bojagi (bundle) cultures of Türkiye and Korea , aiming to reinterpret the cultural flow with a contemporary sensibility.
Bojagi (bundle) is a textile art that has long been present in the daily lives of both nations. Beyond being a simple tool of everyday life, it reflects the aesthetic sense and worldview of communities. Combining fabrics, adding colors, and embedding emotions into them has been a way of recording life. In tradition, bojagi transcended its material function to acquire spiritual and symbolic meanings, becoming a medium of memory that links generations.
This exhibition seeks to explore the past, present, and future potential of the bundle traditions of Türkiye and Korea from two main perspectives.
