The Museum Building in Kültürpark was put into operation in an open area of 9500 square meters under the Izmir Museum Directorate in 2004. In this building, sculptural works and plastic works related to architecture from the archaeological sites in Izmir and its vicinity belonging to the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman Periods are exhibited. On the lower floor, there are Archaic Period stone works, especially large-sized kore and kouros statues erected as offerings or as tombstones in sacred areas. The only sculptural work in the museum dating to the Classical Period is the famous thinker and writer statue which is thought to belong to our fellow citizen Homer exhibited in a large area at the entrance. In addition, the heads and statuettes, the Artemis - Poseidon - Demeter Relief unearthed from the Izmir Agora, the statue depicting the River God Kaistros, one of the distinguished works of the Roman Period, the inscriptions unearthed during the construction of the Izmir Metro Basmane Station, on the upper floor the Metropolis Hall with various sculptures, round and rectangular altars unearthed in Metropolis Excavations, friezes belonging to Teos Dionysos Temple and reliefs of Miletos Theater, heads belonging to the Hellenistic and Roman periods, reliefs of Belevi Tomb Monument, various heads and votive steles are on display.
