RİZE MUSEUM

The building, also known as The Yellow House was built in the 19th century with basement and two floors. "The Yellow House" which is one of the best examples of civil architecture was turned into a museum and opened to visitors on June 27, 1998. Traditional building materials and techiques were used in the construction of the museum building which is one of the local architectual examples. On the walls made by masonry and nogging technique, there is a Turkish style tiled hipped roof. Basement floor was used as barn and warehouse. On the first floor there is the kitchen and guest rooms. The second floor is the livin area.

Today, there are various ethnographic artefacts and showcases on the basement floor. The first floor is designed as the administrative floor where the Rize Museum Directorate serves. The second floor was exposed as a living space as before. Ethnographic, archaeological artefacts and coins belonging to the museum collection are exhibited in Rize Museum.
