Blaundus Ancient City which is located on the top of a hill in the northeast part of Sülümenli village, looks like a peninsula surrounded by three stream beds and it is 40 km away from Uşak. The city  which it is close to the border of  Phrygia In Lydia Region,was built in the Hellenistic period (B.C. III. C.) by Macedonians after Alexander the Great’s military expedition to Anatolia. Then, it was occupied with the Kingdom of Pergamum and the Roman Empire. The place which was a military city on the period of the Pergamum Kingdom, maintained its strategic importance in Roman and Byzantine period as well.

The entrance to the city of Blaundus is provided through towered single gate on the north side, as its surroundings are deep and bayous. Remains of the city are; stadion, theatre, temple in Ionic order, aqueducts and various rock tombs.

 As the location of the ancient city was a popular destination for the visitors, excacavations have become a necessity.  Excavations have been carried out by the Uşak Museum and Archeological Department of Uşak University since 2018.
